How to play eSound on your TV or speaker with Google Cast or AirPlay

Tap the cast icon in the mini player or next to ⋯ in the full-screen player. Choose Google Cast to send the music to a Chromecast, a Google TV or a speaker with Google Cast built in; on iPhone you can also choose AirPlay or Bluetooth. The music keeps playing from eSound, and you control it from your phone.

Before you start

  • The eSound app on Android or iPhone. Casting is not available in the desktop app or in the web player.
  • For Google Cast, a TV, Chromecast or speaker with Google Cast, on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
  • For AirPlay, an AirPlay speaker or TV, or a Bluetooth speaker paired with the iPhone.
  • Casting is free.

Start casting step by step

  1. Tap the cast icon

Play something and tap the cast icon in the mini player, or in the full-screen player next to More options (⋯). You also find it in Settings › Cast devices.

  2. Choose the device

Under Listen on, tap Google Cast and pick your TV or speaker from the list your phone shows. On iPhone, AirPlay or Bluetooth opens the iOS list of speakers.

  3. Control the music

The sheet now shows the device under Listening on, with a volume control. Pause, skip and change songs from eSound as usual.

  4. Stop casting

Tap the cast icon again and go back to This device, or disconnect from the TV or speaker in the list your phone shows.

In the car

The same sheet lists CarPlay on iPhone and Android Auto on Android. Using eSound in the car requires eSound Premium.

If something goes wrong

  • The TV or speaker does not appear: check that it is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone, then open the list again.
  • AirPlay is missing on Android: AirPlay is an Apple technology; on Android use Google Cast or Bluetooth from the phone’s settings.
  • No cast icon on the computer: casting works only in the Android and iPhone apps.
