How to import a Demus playlist into eSound

Export the playlist from Demus as a .playlist file and keep it on your phone. In eSound, open Library, tap +, choose Import playlist and then Import from Demus. Tap Select Playlist File, pick the file, and tap Import in the preview that opens.

Before you start

  • The eSound app on Android or iPhone, signed in to your eSound account.
  • The playlist exported from Demus as a file ending in .playlist, saved where your phone’s file picker can reach it: the Files app on iPhone, or your phone’s storage (for example Downloads) on Android.
  • One file per playlist.
  • Importing works in the app, not in the eSound web player.

Import the file step by step

  1. Export from Demus

Use Demus’s export option to save the playlist as a .playlist file on your phone. Leave the extension as it is: eSound only accepts files that end in .playlist.

  2. Open Import playlist

In eSound, go to Library, tap the + button and choose Import playlist.

  3. Choose Demus

Tap Import from Demus. The card asks you to select a .playlist file exported from Demus.

  4. Pick the file

Tap Select Playlist File and choose the file in your phone’s picker. eSound reads it and opens a preview of the playlist.

  5. Tap Import

Tap Import. When the counter is done the button says Imported and the playlist opens; you also find it in Library.

What is kept

  • The playlist’s name. If the file has no name inside, eSound uses the file name.
  • The order: the songs you added last come first, the way Demus shows them.
  • The copy is independent: later changes in Demus need a new export and a new import.

If something goes wrong

  • Invalid Demus playlist file: the file does not end in .playlist, or it is not a Demus export. Export the playlist from Demus again and pick the new file.
  • Nothing happens after picking: you closed the picker without choosing a file. Tap Select Playlist File again.
  • I can’t find the file in the picker: on iPhone, save the file to the Files app first; on Android, check that you saved it to the phone’s storage.
  • Not available on the web app: import from the Android or iPhone app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import several Demus playlists at once?

No. Each playlist is its own file; import them one after the other.

Do I need a Demus account?

No. eSound only needs the exported file.

Why is my playlist in a different order?

eSound uses the order in which the songs were added to the playlist, newest first, which is how Demus lists them. A custom order you picked in Demus is not stored in the export file.

Is importing free?

Yes. Importing playlists is part of the free eSound app.
