How to import a Youtify playlist into eSound
Export the playlist from Youtify as a .json file. In eSound, open Library, tap +, choose Import playlist and then Import from Youtify. Tap Select Playlist File, pick the file and tap Import in the preview. The playlist is named after the file, so rename the file first if you want a different name.
Before you start
- The eSound app on Android or iPhone, signed in to your eSound account.
- The playlist exported from Youtify as a file ending in .json, saved where your phone’s file picker can reach it (the Files app on iPhone, the phone’s storage on Android).
- A good file name: it becomes the name of the playlist in eSound.
- Importing works in the app, not in the eSound web player.
Import the file step by step
Export from Youtify
Use Youtify’s export option to save the playlist as a .json file on your phone. Rename it now if you like, for example “Road trip.json”, and keep the .json ending.
Open Import playlist
In eSound, go to Library, tap the + button and choose Import playlist.
Choose Youtify
Tap Import from Youtify. The card asks for a .json file exported from Youtify.
Pick the file
Tap Select Playlist File and choose the file. eSound reads it and opens a preview.
Tap Import
Tap Import and wait for the counter. When the button says Imported, the new playlist opens and is saved in your Library.
What to expect
- The playlist takes the file’s name, without .json. A Youtify export does not carry a name of its own.
- Entries in the file without a title are skipped.
- Later changes in Youtify need a new export and a new import.
If something goes wrong
- Invalid Youtify playlist file: the file does not end in .json or is not a Youtify export. Export it from Youtify again and pick the new file.
- The playlist has an odd name: it comes from the file name. Rename the playlist in eSound with Edit playlist, or rename the file and import it again.
- Nothing happens after picking: the picker was closed without choosing a file. Tap Select Playlist File again.
- Not available on the web app: import from the Android or iPhone app.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import more than one Youtify playlist?
Yes, one file at a time. Each file becomes its own playlist.
Do I need Youtify installed on the same phone?
No. eSound only needs the .json file, wherever it was exported.
Why is the playlist called like the file?
Because the Youtify export has no playlist name inside it, eSound uses the file name.
Is importing free?
Yes. Importing playlists is part of the free eSound app.
