How to import a YouTube or YouTube Music playlist into eSound
Copy the playlist’s link from YouTube or YouTube Music: it is the address that contains list=. In eSound, open Library, tap + and choose Import playlist, then Import from YouTube. Paste the link, tap Load playlist and then Import. The playlist has to be public on YouTube.
Before you start
- The eSound app on Android or iPhone, signed in to your eSound account.
- The playlist’s link. Both https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=… and https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=… work, as do the m.youtube.com versions.
- The playlist must be public. eSound reads it through its link and never asks for your Google account.
- Importing works in the app, not in the eSound web player in your browser.
Import the playlist step by step
Copy the playlist link
On YouTube or YouTube Music, open the playlist itself (not just a video from it) and copy its link from the share options. Check that it contains list=.
Open Import playlist
In eSound, go to Library, tap the + button and choose Import playlist. The same entry is in Search before you type anything.
Choose YouTube
Tap Import from YouTube to open its card and the field for the link.
Paste and load
Tap the clipboard icon in the field to paste the link, or paste it yourself, then tap Load playlist. eSound shows a preview with the playlist’s songs.
Tap Import
Tap Import. The counter shows how many tracks have been loaded; when it reaches the end the button says Imported and your new playlist opens. It stays in Library with your other playlists.
What to expect
- The playlist arrives in eSound as a copy. Songs you add on YouTube later do not appear by themselves: import the playlist again to bring them in.
- Videos that are deleted, private or unavailable may not come through.
- Short youtu.be links are not accepted. Open the playlist and copy its full youtube.com address.
- Your Liked videos, Watch later and your liked songs on YouTube Music are private to your Google account, so they cannot be imported. Copy the songs into a public playlist first.
If something goes wrong
- Invalid YouTube link: what you pasted is not a playlist link. Copy it again from the playlist page: it must contain youtube.com and list=.
- This playlist is private: eSound could not see the playlist. Set it to public on YouTube, import it, then change it back if you like.
- Error importing playlist: check your connection and tap Import again.
- Not available on the web app: you are in the web player. Import the playlist from the Android or iPhone app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium account?
No. eSound only needs the link of a public playlist and does not ask you to sign in to YouTube.
Can I import a playlist made by someone else?
Yes, as long as it is public: eSound imports whatever playlist the link points to and saves the copy in your library.
Does importing cost anything?
No. Importing playlists is part of the free eSound app.
Can I import from other apps too?
Yes: the same screen imports links from Spotify, Musi and Deezer, and files exported from Demus and Youtify.
