How to install eSound on iPhone

eSound for iPhone is installed through AltStore PAL, an alternative app marketplace available in the European Union, Japan and Brazil. Install AltStore PAL from altstore.io, add the eSound source (https://esound.app/downloads/source.json) in its Sources tab, then find eSound in Browse and tap Install. The page esound.app/altstore walks you through the same steps.

Before you start

  • An iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later, in a country where AltStore PAL is available: the European Union, Japan or Brazil.
  • AltStore PAL, the marketplace eSound is distributed through on iOS. It is installed from altstore.io, following the steps there and the ones iOS shows.
  • Outside those countries AltStore PAL is not available yet. You can still listen in the browser with the eSound web player at listen.esound.app.

Install eSound step by step

  1. Open esound.app/altstore on the iPhone

The page shows the guide and the buttons you need. You also get there from esound.app/download on an iPhone.

  2. Install AltStore PAL

If you do not have it yet, tap Download AltStore PAL (or go to altstore.io/download) and follow the instructions to install it. This version of AltStore does not need weekly refreshes.

  3. Add the eSound source

Tap Add eSound Source on esound.app/altstore. Or open AltStore PAL, go to the Sources tab, tap + and enter https://esound.app/downloads/source.json.

  4. Install eSound

In AltStore PAL, go to the Browse tab, find eSound and tap Install.

  5. Open eSound

Open the app and create your account or sign in. Your playlists and library follow your eSound account.

Updates

New versions are published on the eSound source in AltStore PAL. eSound also tells you inside the app when a newer version is available; you update it from AltStore PAL.

If something goes wrong

  • esound.app/altstore says it is coming soon: AltStore PAL is not available where you are. Use the web player at listen.esound.app.
  • AltStore PAL will not install: follow the steps on altstore.io; iOS has to allow installing from an alternative marketplace first.
  • The source will not add: check the address, https://esound.app/downloads/source.json, and your connection.
  • Still stuck: the esound.app/altstore page has a Contact Support link.
